Comments:
This bridge was near a railroad covered bridge. It was built at a cost of $14,000. It is one of only two in New England that were covered with a gambrel roof, the other one being the Republican Bridge in Franklin, NH. It had a sidewalk on the upstream side. The laminated arch was probably added after the original construction, as they do not appear to be present in early stereoview images. It was a toll bridge until 1909. The previous bridge at this site may have been covered. The previous one was destroyed by an ice jam on February 19, 1870.
