Comments:
Burned by Morgan's men in 1863. Washed out in the floods of 1884, 1898, and 1907. The 1907 flood removed two spans that were replaced by April 27, 1908 with steel Pratt through spans. Per the Portsmouth Daily Times, October 17, 1934, the state highway department was advertising for bids to be opened Oct. 26 for removal of the three covered spans still left on the bridge on Route 220, the Waverly-Jackson highway. The replacement spans were to be relocated from the Piketon US23 bridge, which was bein upgraded.
