Comments:
It was washed away on June 1, 1889 and replaced by the present four-span wrought iron pony truss bridge on the original abutments and piers. Per The Perry County Democrat (Bloomfield), June 5, 1889, In describing flood damage from 1-Jun-1889, "The river was covered with floating debris, and several bridges came down with the flood, among them the Millerstown bridge. The county bridge across the river at Newport withstood several tremendous shocks, but finally gave way with a crash and was gone. When the Millerstown dam broke the rush of the waters was terrific."
