Comments:
The bridge’s builder, Augustus Brown (1845-1932) of Beachburg , Ontario, used a hybrid structure, a Town type lattice structure lined with a queenpost structure for the sum of $6,000 in 1898.. The wood, to build the bridge, was hauled by horse from The Glen, Ontario via the ice bridge in Waltham, Quebec. It is supported by five wooden pillars filled with stones. It is Québec’s only remaining covered bridge built in the 19th century outside of the Eastern Townships. At 152.1 meters, it is one of the two longest covered bridges in Québec. It was named in memory of Félix-Gabriel Marchand (1832-1900), prime minister of Québec from 1897 to 1900. The bridge was featured on a Canadian stamp in 2019.
