Comments:
On December 21, 1892, a tender for $4,314 from J. & J.A. McKenzie and William McVetty was selected to construct this bridge. The McKenzies constructed the masonry and McVetty built the wooden structure. In 1893, the completed structure was accepted by the municipal council. In 1950, the shingle roof was blown off and was replaced by a corrugated steel roof. For safety reasons, the bridge was closed in 1979. It was known as the Fisher Hill Bridge for a time and, in 1991, officially renamed the McVetty-McKerry Bridge to honor its builders. It was later discovered that "McKerry" was in error and the name was really "McKenzie". In 2011, the bridge was renamed.
