Comments:
12-panel truss. The Big Eddy Bridge was built in 1833 to replace a bridge lost during a freshet in 1830. A sidewalk was added in 1938 (Per The Waterbury Record of March 16, 1938). Milton Graton and sons restored the bridge in 1973. In 1989, the floor was re-decked and distribution beams were added. The bridge’s name comes from the eddy formed by the bedrock under the north abutment which juts out into the stream.
