Comments:
On June 27, 1991 a pickup truck was set on fire inside the bridge. Much of the cost of a replacement bridge was paid by Frederick County’s insurance company. The new bridge includes some of the rafters, hardware and braces from the arsoned bridge. Reconstruction included interior lighting and fire-retardant materials. The total reconstruction cost was nearly $300,000. On June 7, 1994 a crane hoisted the trusses into place. On June 25th a celebration of the bridge rebuilding was held and on July 4, 1994 the bridge was officially opened to traffic.
