Comments:
The bridge was named for an adjacent landowner, Robert Low. The spelling "Lowe" is incorrect. The bridge has a small park on one end. Per the New England Farmer, April 18, 1857, the Low's covered bridge at Guildford was either damaged or swept away (not specific) in a flood. The stone abutments were built by Isaac Wharff and still support the current covered bridge. The freshet of April 1, 1987 floated the bridge off its abutments. Part landed in a nearby field and the rest went downstream and over the falls in Dover-Foxcroft. It was replaced be a new covered bridge.
