Comments:
14-panel truss. Per The McArthur Enquirer, July 28, 1870, "NOTICE To Contractors. --- SEALED PROPOSALS Will be received at the Auditor's Office, in the town of McArthur, Vinton county, Ohio, until the hour of 12 o'clock, M., on Monday, August 15th, A.D. 1870, for ...the building of three Bridges, as follows to-wit: ONE COVERED BRIDGE WITH STONE ABUTMENTS, Across Big Raccoon Creek, at Eakin's Mills, in Vinton Township, Vinton county, Ohio..." In correspondence with Terry Miller (August 7, 1959), the County Engineer, J. M. Ogan, stated that the builder was Oscar Gilman about 1870. Similar to Geer Mill, this bridge had significant camber, ~18 inches. The bridge was significantly rebuilt in 2002.
