Comments:
County #12. Cost $1248.00. There is a clear span of 72' from another source. Per The Columbian (Bloomsburg), February 26, 1875, "BRIDGE LETTINGS. - ONE wooden arch covered bridge to be located at a point in Locust township, over Roaringcreek, near N. Kostenbauder's, seventy-two feet long, two abutments eight feet high, each, wing walls North side twenty-five feet each, south side twelve feet each. One wooden brace covered bridge, to be located at a point near Cherrington's Mill, over Roaringcreek, Roaringcreek township forty-five feet long, two abutments seven feet high, with wing walls, north side six and sixteen feet, south side twelve respectively. We will meet at Yeager's hotel, in Stabtown, on Thursday, February 1875, between 10 o'clock, a m. and 3 p.m. to receive proposals to build said bridges. The contract will be for the building, filling &c, all complete. For plans and specifications inquire at our office. Commissioners' Office, Bloomsburg, Pa. Feb. 3, 1875. WM. LAWTON, JNO. HERNER, JOHN ENT } Com's of Col. Co. WM. KRICKBAUM, Clerk." While the Cherrington family built several mills along Roaring Creek, it is believed that the Cherrington Mill name was used for the Mill Grove mill at this date.
