Comments:
This bridge was built in 1923 and named in honor of a former Minister of Public Works, Antonin Galipeault. Metal support was added around 1985 to stop the structure from sagging. Major restoration work was carried out between June 7 and mid-October 2016 when the bridge was moved to dry land to work on the abutments. That project cost approximately $585,000. The structure was officially listed on the Quebec Cultural Heritage Register on June 18, 2020. In 2022, the structure became “Le Pont Chantant”, the singing bridge. The visitor can sing into the receiver and the bridge will respond with music and sounds of nature that have been recorded at the site throughout the year.
