Comments:
The bridge is named after Alphonse Normandin (1878-1943), a pioneer in the region who arrived in 1923. The original arched portal was changed to the present angled opening sometime in the 1970s. This bridge was gray until painted red in the early 1980s. The name was formalized in 1988. In 2010, there was talk of relocating it to a park and turning it into a museum. That has not yet occurred.
