Comments:
The first covered bridge was built by Sanford Granger. Per the Bellows Falls Times, October 8, 1869, "Further up the village, the covered bridge leading to Westminster West, a saw mill and cider mill belonging to Ransom Farnsworth were swept away." The second one had a covered sidewalk on one side. A center pier was added around 1930. Closeup images show a squared arch (queenpost) in addition to the Town truss. Per The Brattleboro Reformer, May 1, 1948, "Authorization to construct a new concrete bridge to replace the present covered bridge in Saxtons River and a tax of two cents on the grand list to help pay for it were voted at a special meeting of the Town of Rockingham attended by about 50 persons Friday evening in the State Armory."
